Arouet among 16 orgs awarded workforce development funds by Governor’s Office

PHOENIX, ARIZONA—October 27, 2023—Arouet, a local nonprofit that supports currently and formerly incarcerated women on their journey to successful re-entry, is proud and excited to be a recipient of workforce development grant funding from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF).

Governor Katie Hobbs made the announcement Friday that approximately $5.9 million in GOYFF 2024 funding would be awarded to 16 organizations across Arizona, including Arouet, who will use the funds to launch their own workforce program.

“Ensuring our citizens have the opportunity to receive the education or training needed for their long-term prosperity is a top priority for Arizona.”

Arouet’s new workforce program will launch in January 2024 and include project management and computer skills training, augmented by a series of wraparound supports and services, helping its program participants “navigate this generation’s workspace,” said Arouet CEO Alison Rapping.

“Winning this grant is a very big deal to Arouet,” Rapping said. “The goal for me has always been to build a program where we can provide comprehensive support and training and have these women workforce-ready. To help them get meaningful, living-wage jobs, we’ve got to help them become tech-savvy, and this program will make that mission a success.”

GOYFF funding went to organizations that assist several underserved populations, including people involved or previously involved with the foster care system, veterans, people with disabilities, and people who are formerly incarcerated.

“I look forward to seeing the impact of these dollars on the lives of citizens across the state as we continue to expand opportunities for thriving futures,” said GOYFF Cabinet Executive Officer (CEO) Tonya Hamilton.

Arouet will release further details on its new workforce program in the coming months.
